Genesis 6 - Prepare For A Flood!

Uniformitarianism--1700's first proposed.  Catastrophic processes are not the explanations for the land forms that exist.  But they are instead caused by the consistent gradual process of decay.

2 Peter 3  Knowing this, scoffers will come in the last days...

Two cataclysmic events
1. Creation---gave us the first earth
2. Universal Flood--gave us the second

Aztecs, Hawaii, Gilgamesh, Cherokee have flood story
35 civilizations 18 of them spoke of God being in it by wrath, 24 animals spared, 32 vessel used to spare some people, all 35 human family set apart and favored by God.

Matthew 24:36-42
Of that day, no one knows...but as it was in the days of Noah, so it shall also be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man."

Similarities between Noah's Day and our day

1. Increase in population
2. Tremendous demonic activity and sexual perversion
3. Increase in wickness among men---thoughts of heart evil continually, a world thinking only evil thoughts, antidiluvian world, malignant, intent (Hebrew word for pottery)

Two theories on angels

2 teachings
1. Fallen angels cohabiting with men--he does find support for this
2. Godly line of Seth intermarrying with Cain--he doesn't find support for this

reference in Jude, angels leaving proper place, going after strange flesh, locked away, tarturus--"some other place" only place where this word is used
