Isa 30:20 Though Adonai may give you but bread and water, and not very much of that; your teacher will no longer hide himself, but with your own eyes you will see your teacher.
Isa 30:21 With your ears you will hear a word from behind you: "This is the way; stay on it, whether you go to the right or the left."
Paul's comment about "seeing in full" in 1 Corinthians 13:12 echoes from this passage of Isaiah 30. It's satisfying for me to find the unity in the Bible, the seeds of the New Testament in the old. Isaiah is rife with these seeds---seems to be my major discover this time through the book.
I'm surprised by how much of Isaiah is in the imagery of Revelation, in the introspection of the Psalms, in Paul's hopes for the future.
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 2 Corinthians 13:12The access that we will have to God is mind-bendingly encouraging--especially since, in this lifetime, we have many unanswered questions that we long to have answered. To "see in full," that my "teacher will no longer hide himself," is a huge relief and source of encouragement.
In Isaiah 32, the common image of not-seeing and not-hearing is reversed:
Isa 32:3 The eyes of those seeing will not be closed, the ears of those hearing will pay close attention.
